Our Zeero sneakers have become more expensive - here are a few honest & transparent words about it.
We love good news, but unfortunately, we have to talk to you about a less pleasant topic. As you may have noticed, our prices have increased. Uncool - we think so too. But we want to take a moment to explain why we took this step, because transparency is still an important concern for us. We don't want to raise prices silently, nor do we want to justify ourselves. We want to Provide insight, because only insight can create understanding.
On the one hand, this is related to inflation. Not only is refueling becoming more expensive, but along with it, the costs of shipping service providers that deliver packages across Germany to your doorstep are also rising. When they increase prices, we automatically have to follow, as we as an underdog cannot bear the additional costs alone.
At the same time, resources are becoming increasingly expensive. Which is justified, as they are becoming scarcer. We are writing this article on May 4, 2022, this year's Overshoot Day. This means that in Germany, we have already used up all the resources for the rest of the year by today. The trend shows that instead of conserving our resources, we are consuming them faster and faster. This leads to scarcity and thus to rising costs. The rising prices for raw materials, which we use for our sneakers, affect not only our productions but all of us, including us as a company and you as (great!) customers.
This is how it comes about that ALL materials we source have become 10-15% more expensive. Whether the soles, the vegan leather, the shoelaces, the cork insoles - every single component has now become more expensive due to resource scarcity, due to Corona, and maybe even because of the Ukraine war.
A few euros here and there, but why has the price of your favorite sneaker - the Zeero Natural - shot up so much? Scarcity plays a big role here again: we can't keep up with producing as fast as you buy the sneaker. Don't get me wrong, we are incredibly happy that you love the sneaker so much! But it also means that we have to spend more money to meet your demands. And then we are back at inflation, which makes everything more expensive.
For some of you, this might mean that you simply can't afford the sneaker anymore, even though you'd really like to! We sincerely apologize for that. We also wish that everyone could wear our products with pride. That everyone has the opportunity to consume sustainably and thus make the world a little bit better. Unfortunately, reality sometimes throws a wrench in the works. We would still be very happy if you continue to support us. We also continue to do our best to offer you sustainable products that are made fairly and, above all, resource-consciously. Because whether it's the climate crisis or any other crisis in this world, the rule always applies: we are all in this together.
