We previously had calculated how much CO2 is consumed in the production of our sneakers. Our partner Hudara supports us here and implements the planting of mangrove trees in Bangladesh for us - one mangrove is planted for every pair of sneakers sold.
These trees are true masters in CO2 compensation, doing so 1.7 times more efficiently than mixed forests.
At the same time, the country is very densely populated on a relatively small area and is among the countries with the highest population density. Long story short: small steps can already help many people here.
Unfortunately, Bangladesh is very strongly affected by climate change. Flooding and inundations are huge problems in particular. Mangrove trees help to stabilize the coastlines through their deep rooting.
In addition, these trees provide a wonderful protection and natural habitat for many animals: above all, of course, the fish, but also turtles, birds, and many more.
Especially fishing is one of the most important economic sectors in Bangladesh. It is therefore important to keep the fish stock stable.

Hudara continues to support social projects in the country. The wood of the mangrove tree is valuable and quickly logged. It is important here to create a change in people’s minds and show them that mangroves fulfill important functions.
To offer you a bit of transparency, we are uploading a certificate of the trees here. These are always planted in larger quantities.

We are therefore very pleased to be able to support this project.
